Top Product Picks from CEDIA 2017

Each year we had the privilege of attending CEDIA to learn about the new products that are being unveiled for consumers. This year CEDIA 2017 was held in San Diego, CA and was bigger than ever! While there are many impressive technology products, we are going to share our Top Picks with you.

Josh Micro – The company created Josh Micro, a voice activated control system similar to Amazon’s Echo and Google Home, but WAY COOLER! While Amazon and Google products can only perform one command at a time, Josh Micro can listen and execute multiple commands for you. By incorporating it’s intuitive voice control with the uncompromising power of artificial intelligence, the Josh Micro achieves multi-function home control using far-field microphones and a full home processor. After seeing how this product works and how it interfaces into your Smart Home, it’s no wonder why the Josh Micro won Best New Product at CEDIA 2017. is an intuitive company, and we are looking closely at this product.

GuardianGuardian by Alexa is the first standalone IoT leak and flood prevention system that not only alerts you but actually shuts off your water for you. This system is WiFi based with battery backup, so no power is needed in order for it to operate. Attach the mechanism to your water valve, place the sensors around your home in various places that could potentially have a water leak (near hot water heater, base of toilets, under sinks) and download the App to your smartphone. It’s that easy! Setup is complete and no plumber is needed. If a leak is detected in all of the sensors around your house, it will immediately ping your smartphone with a notification and automatically turn off your water valve. The cost is completely reasonable at $399; a small investment for potential BIG savings on your property. We think this niche product has a great concept!

RadioRA2 Select – Lutron has introduced its new version of RadioRA2 Select. Think of RadioRA  Select as a cross between Caseta and RadioRA2. Lutron has blended them together for a lighting control system that is more friendly priced, and the repeater has a bridge built into it. The Select still has the same function as Radio RA; meaning it is easy to program, but this model is limited to 100 devices, which should be sufficient for a residential setting.

SonyAs usual, Sony delivers. In the market of 4K projectors, Sony’s quality continues to be unmatched. Their newest projector, model VPL-VW285ES, delivers 4K HDR, with 1,500 lumens. This is a very good entry level 4K projector, priced at a competitive price of $4,999.99

AtlonaThe new AT-UHD-SW-510W is a multi-format HDMI switcher with wireless presentation capabilities. The inputs include a USB display port and HDMI. This model has the ability to connect wirelessly via WiFi for Apple, Android or Windows devices. It includes its own wireless screenface for mirroring, so no need for a separate app. The outputs are HDMI and a mirrored HDBaseT with up to 4K resolution. As usual, it comes with Atlona’s standard 10 year warranty. This switcher is a great solution for conference rooms where a presenter may need different solutions for connectivity to display their presentation. This one box can handle everything!
